Ranch Clearing on Steep Coryell County Ground
Ranching around Copperas Cove means managing grass on slopes with very little soil under them. A closing juniper canopy takes that grass down year over year, and once a slope goes to solid cedar the carrying capacity is effectively gone. Getting it back is a clearing job that has to respect the grade. We work these hillsides with tracked mulchers that hold a line across a slope, opening the canopy in passes and leaving the chipped material as cover on ground that would otherwise start moving downhill the first hard rain after the work.
